Canton, Georgia Speed Traps
Batesville Road
About one mile from where Batesville ends at the road into Canton, the local police on a Saturday afternoon at 2 PM were running radar; I was caught doing 48 in a 35 mile zone. This is a back country road with light traffic. Police set up was down at the bottom of a hill, which made it particularly difficult to slow down after ascending the hill. It was a cheap shot. I guess county revenue was needed for the upcoming holidays.
Prominence Point Parkway near Keeter Road
Police will sit in the unfinished drive way on the right if going southbound. Cantons finest will also sit at the top of hill after the road becomes two lanes sometimes on a motorcycle (hard to see blends in with the mailbox). Late at night they will sit just past Keeter Rd. I have also seen two roadblocks on this same road. (Around summer holidays)
Butterworth Road
They sit in a driveway just past Diamond Ridge Subdivision if you are going towards Bells Ferry Road or just before Diamond Ridge if you are going towards Marietta Hwy. The speed limit is 35 and you should maintain that speed all the time. You never know when they will be there. They sit there in the mornings and late in the evenings for the most part.
US Highway 20 near East Cherokee Drive
Hwy 20 between East Cherokee Drive and Hwy 369 – really just the hill where there is an extra lane going up the hill. Cars and motorcycles patrol this area regularly.
State Highway Marietta near Ridge Road
At the corner of Ridge road and Marietta Hwy. Canton Police will sit at the Americas Service Station with lights off and you will not be able to see them until you are right on them coming from both directions. The speed limit is 45 is not posted. It is posted at 55 on the other side of 575 but changes to 45 when you cross over 575 but there is no sign
