Pocatello, Idaho Speed Traps
I-15 North and South
Officers out in force today, on the holiday weekend. Got pulled over when the limit went from 80 to 65 heading southbound, just north of Pocatello. There is no justifiable reason for this speed limit change. No at-grade crossings, or significant changes in road conditions, … just a great way for Bannock County to make some money off of people on their vacation.
South Main Extension
You’ll go from 45mph to 25 mph with absolutely no warning. Strictly enforced.
Southbound Hawthorne Rd. from Quinn Rd.
Quinn Rd is a boundry between the Cities of Pocatello and Chubbuck.
It appears that Pocatello needs Chubbuck money because the school zone sign presented to Chubbuckans as they enter Pocatello is small, hidden in foliage and has no warning lights. The sign for the other end of the zone, in Pocatello, is in the clear AND has a flashing light!
About 1 out of 4 trips thru this trap, I observe a police stop or a hidden patrol car. Must be a real money maker.
center street interchange entering Pocatello
Entering Pocatello on the Center street Exit from the interstate you are desending
a large hill , and it is very easy to coast over the speed limit. The city police often
sit on side streets and tag coasting motorists.
I-15 @ Pocatello city limit sign both directions
Idaho State Police work the I-15 hard between the city limit signs for Pocatello in both directions. The speed limit drops from 75 m.p.h. to 65 m.p.h and the police are generally in the median strip shooting laser in both directions….Here 65 means 65
