Interstate I-55 near I-80 Expressway

Chicago, IllinoisSep 17, 20070 Comments

I-55 South of Chicago. A sign on the on ramo says "Speed Limit Photo Enforced", which means they take a picture of your car and license plate and mail you a ticket. You do not have a chance to face your accuser. If you do not pay, you are added to NCIC records as having unpaid tickets, which could lead to having your car towed and yourself hauled off to jail.

Chicago, IllinoisSep 05, 20070 Comments

A police car will sit in the medium Northbound lane of Lake Shore Drive (US41) just before it feeds into Hollywood. You won’t see him until it’s too late because there is a rise at this point.

Forest Preserve Drive near Addison Street

Chicago, IllinoisSep 04, 20070 Comments

Chicago PD will post one car hidden in the cars parked alongside forest preserve drive and radio back to a large group of police cars witing to pull out from the apartment buildings or the churche just south of addison. They seem to be out 5-6 days a week and for 10 hours at a time. They write literally hundred of tickets in a day. The posted limit is 30 MPH on a wide 4 lane road with a cemetery along the length of one side of the road where cars are usually clocked. Cars going southwest are usually targeted, but occasionally you may catch an officer closer to Irving Park Road clocking cars going northeast from one of the side streets.

Western Avenue near Belmont Street

Chicago, IllinoisSep 04, 20070 Comments

You can drive up and down Western Ave there’s no speed limit signs but it supposed to be 35 mph. As most of Chicagoans know there is a police station at the intersection of Western/Belmont. If you are going southbound on Western you have to use the Thru traffic bridge that goes over Belmont. The Cop parks his car with the other parked cars on the street right before the Walgreens on Elston/Diversey. You will never see him or even if you do you will think it’s a parked car on the street. He has more than enough time to catch you while you’ll be coming down the bridge. 99% of drivers drive over 35 mph at this point. Be careful!
