La Grange, Illinois Speed Traps
Ogden Ave. between East/Eberly Ave. and LaGrange Rd.
This stretch of Ogden is perfect for people to be caught. There is usually a cop sitting in the parking lot of a factory (next to the Seven Eleven) just waiting for people travelling west towards LaGrange Rd. to go a tad faster than 30 mph. And if you’re going in the other direction, down the hill towards East, you won’t see him until it’s too late. It doesn’t matter if you’re past East and already in Brookfield, they’ll pull you over anyway.
47th and est ave west to la grange road
New speed limit went from 35 to 30 and is heavily enforced
LaGrange Road near 22nd Street to Ogden Ave.
My husband and I travel this road daily. Everyday there is a police car w/ radar waiting to write tickets. On 11/09/07 I witnessed Two different squad cars within a one block distance! If they are not waiting they are on the shoulder writing someone up. Speed drops drastically on this street from 55-30 in a relatively short time.
47th Street near East Avenue
There is often a cop sitting in the parking lot of Sedgwick Park close to the intersection of 47th and East. They can be seen in either lot off of 47th or East Avenue.
LaGrange Road near Cossitt Avenue
LaGrange Rd. between 47th St. and Ogden Ave. is a congested downtown thoroughfare with a posted speed limit of 20 mph. The speed limit is a dramatic reduction from the 35 mph posted speeds entering town. Radar enforcement by units positioned along any of the side streets between Ogden and 47th is a possibility at any time of day. Be aware and slow down. They’re pretty unforgiving.
