Lombard, Illinois Speed Traps
Main Street near St. Charles Road/ Madison Street
Cops sit in any of the numerous parking lots along main street and radar traffic in both directions at any time of day. This stretch between St. Charles road and Madison St. is highly enforced because it is near the high school and police station and speed limit drops quickly from 35 MPH from both the north and south so many drivers do not slow in time. Cops are rarely lenient so your best bet is to do no more than 30 because Lombard cops will rarely let you off.
State Route Rt. 56 near Highland Crossing
The Unit is parked in the median strip (middle of the road) directly in the underpass of Highland Ave. Its 4 lanes and i was going 82 mph when I saw him, hit the brakes, got me at 66. Watch it, he also sits above the road on the entrance ramp. Keep your speed at 50.
Make Street near Finley and Westmore Road
Police sit on the sides of the road and enforce the low 25 MPH speed limit very strictly. They appear to be enforcing a "zero tolerance" policy.
State Highway 53 near Illinois Prairie Path Overhead Crossing
For the most part, IL53 in this area is a four-lane highway posted at 45 mph. But for about one-quarter mile north and south of St. Charles Road, the speed limit drops to 35mph, and it is clearly posted and heavily enforced. IDOT has major plans to rebuild this road in the future, and this 35mph area may be extended north and south.
Main Street near Wilson Street
I have driven down Main street (North or South) right by G.E. High School, and cops are around Main and Wilson alot. The PD is right down wilson and I can’t count how many times I have driven by and there is a cop sitting at that intersection or in the parking lot.
