Naperville, Illinois Speed Traps
Interstate 88 near Naperville Road
Officers sit on eastbound I88 west of the Naperville Road onramp(on top of Naperville Road via duct) and clock you from behind as you enter I88 headed east. The onramp is a downgrade and the speed is only 55 mph while traffic moves 65 to 70 mph. Very easy to exceed while merging with traffic. Officers like to patrol early morning commuters.
State Route 59 near 95th Street
This one is a foggy day favorite. 59 South, right before the light into the jewel. On one foggy day i saw no less than 7 cops (bikes and cars) just sitting there waiting for a speeding pack so they could nail them in one fell swoop.
West Street near Hillside Avenue
West Street by Naperville Central High School and the baseball fields the Naperville Police sit in the garden area or parking lot of the ball field and ticket all day long. The spped limit is 25 and everyone goes 35. Got ya.
The Naperville Police will give their own mother a ticket. Watch out.
Chicago Avenue near Charles Avenue
Cops love to sit at the bottom of the hill near the intersecton of Chicago Ave and Charles. catching drunks leaving downtown, and people going down the hill when it quickly changes to 40 from 30.
Plainfield / Naperville Road near between 75th and 87th
Naperville’s finest will sit in the entrance to the parking lot of the DuPage forrest preserve and pick people off. I’ve also seen DuPage County Sherif instead of Naperville police. They sit in the parking lots on both sides of the road so you can get pulled over going north or south on Plainfield / Naperville. I’ve seen cops here at all times of day, you’re never really safe on this stretch.
The speed limit is 45 but it’s a two lane road through the middle of a forrest preserve, so it’s really easy to creep up a lot higher than that. Not only that, but the road both northbound and southbound is downhill, so you get going pretty fast without even noticing it.
Just be cautious between 75th and 87th streets, because as we all know Naperville cops don’t really know what a warning is. Once the lights go on, you’re out 75 bucks.
