South Elgin, Illinois Speed Traps
Silver Glen and Crane
Sit at bottom of hill in a driveway for the wetlands. Very hard to see car until too late.
South Elgin Blvd., between South Elgin and Elgin
The speed limit used to be 40 MPH but was lowered to 30 MPH because two schools were built. The schools are far back from the road, and kids never walk anywhere because there aren’t any sidewalks, so 30 MPH is crazy. The cops in South Elgin, write a ton of tickets because there are two hills and they sit at the bottom. As you drive around a curve there they sit and nail everyone. Sad!
Just west of Randall on Mcdonald
The South Elgin Fund Raisers are constantly shaking down motorists as they pass through on their way to more civilized communities. They hand out tickets to people passing through on their cash cow the new Stearns Rd/Mcdonald Rd Rt 20 alternative like vultures on a carcass.South Elgin needs to learn from Gilberts that the working class community doesn’t want pirates of any kind in their community.
Stearns Road, East of Randall and West of McLean
Usually work in pairs. Unmarked squad car gets radar from Meyer Material driveway on the south side of Stearns and a marked car comes out of no where. I was pulled over & was ticketed the other day. Came through again the next day, they had pulled over a car going west on Stearns and had the Sgt’s car (black with gold trim marked car) right behind me. New revenue generator for South Elgin. These guys are like white on rice. Watch out!
Stearns and Route 31
I’m not trapping anyone. Speed is clearly posted for the entire length of Stearns Rd. I’ll be on the North side of Stearns, by the cell tower. I just wrote a 77 in a 45. I guess the driver was "trapped".
