Dyer police are usually out looking for speeders during the busiest periods of the day between 6:30 to 8:30am or 3-6pm They also use extra patrols from time to time to get an idea of the speeds that people are driving.

Police sit on either side of the Calumet Avenue bridge waiting for drivers to accelerate past the 35 mph speed limit on the way down the bridge. Occasionally they patrol the bridge and execute sudden U-turns to pull people over going in the opposite direction.
