Wanatah, Indiana Speed Traps
US 30 at the Speedway Station
They sit between the car wash and the Speedway and catch people running the town’s only light or speeding…
US 30 in town
The speed limit drops to 55 then 40 on both ends of town and remains constant throughout. Usually a patrol car is sitting at the BP on the south side of the road, but could be anywhere in town. Fortunately, even at 40, it only takes a minute or so to get through town, but I have seen countless people busted along here.
U.S. Hwy. 30 East of Wanatah
Indiana State Police are aggressively patrolling along U.S. Hwy. 30 east of Wanatah. Sometimes the officer (same officer each time) is rolling in either direction, and sometimes is parked at various locations. Watch your speed very carefully. He is using lidar, attached to the headlights, and especially when rolling, can detect you several miles before you see the squad car.
State Highway 30
Laporte County cop sometimes sits in parking lot right off the highway where the old Gambler restaurant used to be before it burned down. this can be tricky because slightly before this area the speed limit reduces from 55 to 40 mph.
