N Hyland Avenue near Pammel Drive
The are 2 Location on this hill that are used by stationary officers. when headed southbound downhill there will be 2 private church parking lots on your right hand side. The first parking lot is well hidden behind a bunch on bushes ( you won’t see the officer till u pass it), the other parking lot is located directly at the bottom of the hill next to a small yellow house. in this parking lot, officers will sit backwards between other parked cars to shoot radar. Bottom line( do not speed on hyland ave AT ALL either north or southbound.
Mortensen Road near State Street
The location is a quick route home from ISU campus bars thus Iowa State police use it as well. Headed westbound on mortensen rd immediately following the STATE STREET intersection, to your left will be 2 areas where ISU Police sit. 1 is a parking lot between 2 barns, and the second is a little farther down the road off in the ditch. In neither of these locations will Police have ANY lights on.
US Highway 35 South near NE 126 Avenue
Vascar and air patrol is used regularly on the strip of highway 35 south from Ames to Ankeny. Aiplanes will time vehicles from 1 underpass to another. when you reach the ELKHARDT exit(hwy 87), there will be 5-6 state troopers to your right, lined up along the on ramp ready to jump right behind you w/o warning.
Mortensen Road near State Street
As you head east on Mortensen, away from South Dakota, an officer will sit behind some shrubs and trees on the right side of the road as you approach State Street. All times of the day, especially mornings as early as 6AM.
State Route 69/Duff Ave. near 1/2 Mile north of Highway 30
Sits far back from the road in the parking lot on the east side of the road.
