Sioux City, Iowa Speed Traps
I-29, Mile Marker 150, South Bound
Within the span of 2 days, I received two tickets in the mail from this specific speed trap. I don’t live in the area but have to drive through now & then. I’ve been driving this road for years & always watch for speed changes (it moves from 50 to 65 and there’s also always construction). I’m not sure how I missed this & it will be awhile before I drive through again to be sure, but both tickets show I’m going 61 to 64 mph, but the limit is 50 mph. I must have thought the limit was still 65 mph here. Maybe the change in speed limit isn’t well-marked? Or maybe I totally missed it.
Interstate 29, mile marker 149.0
Speed limit of 55 on the Interstate and Sioux City has a speed camera at that location.
I-29 & bypass, both lanes of traffic, radomly placed
photo enforced mobile trailers that are radomly located, mostly on I-29. There are at least two of these units, sometimes both located in the same lane of traffic but usually one on the north bound and one on the south bound. Additionly, I-29 is currently under construction so all tickets have the higher rate for a construction area.
6100 Block Morningside Ave
Patrol car will sit in the parking lot of the Christian School and nail drivers coming off of the U.S. 20/75 bypass in the transition between 35mph and 30mph.
Floyd Boulevard near Former Sioux Tools Parking Lot
A car is often stationed in the former center visitors parking of the now closed Sioux Tools manufacturing plant. The building wraps around this lot allowing the officer to remain out of site until it is too late to slow down.
