Interstate 635 near Kansas Avenue

Kansas City, KansasJul 08, 20060 Comments

The Kansas Highway Patrol has been doing a lot of enforcement on I-635 running radar in both directions. Northbound: they will usually hide behind the concrete barriers between Kansas Ave and the Missouri State Line. Most of this enforcement is due to the construction in the area. Speed limit is 65 until you get into the work zone, then it drops to 55. Southbound: Troopers will usually sit in the big median area just north of I-70. The helicopter will often assist the ground units in clocking motorists, especially during the late afternoon/early evening hours. If you drive through these areas, be careful!

Mission Road near Large downhill road at the Beaver Tools entrance

Kansas City, KansasJul 27, 20051 Comments

The Kansas city Kansas Police set in the entrance to Beaver Tools, 3995 Mission Road, it is a large downhill 4 lane road, two lanes down and two lanes up, and very hard to drive the posted 30 MPH down this large hill with all the prevailing traffic.
This is a speedtrap in its true form.
Also, to throw an extra little fright in the mix, they have another patrol car show up with its lights flashing to try to see if you get nervous.

Interstate 670 near Genessee Street

Kansas City, KansasJun 12, 20050 Comments

Kansas State Troopers wait on the westbound I-670 bridge through the Westbottoms just over the Kansas state line. They wait between the onramp from Genesse Street and the exit ramp to Central Avenue. They are fairly visible, depending on the amount of traffic. The Troopers wait in the ramp lane since there is no shoulder. I’ve seen them in my morning commute, but I’m not sure what other times they are there.

Kansas Highway Patrol sits on the shoulder and runs laser/radar on vehicles traveling Southbound. For the most part, the patrol cars are visible, but sometimes they will "hide" in between the concrete dividers. Speed limit is 65 mph along this stretch.

Rainbow Boulevard near Olathe Boulevard

Kansas City, KansasAug 29, 20040 Comments

Kansas City KS and KU Medical Center police will routinely enforce speed on Olathe boulevard due to the pedestrian crossings. Speed limit is 15 mph on Olathe boulevard. I’ve also seen them running radar on Rainbow blvd by the Burger King. Speed limit on Rainbow is 30 Mph. Be Aware. The police are very agressive in this area.
