Lawrence, Kansas Speed Traps
Kentucky Street near 14th Street
Just after 14th St, there is a school zone and the speed limit drops to 20. A cop is usually on the left side looking for anyone who goes above 23 mph during school hours, especially when the kids are getting out of school.
Naismith Drive near Naismith Expressway
Officer parks his car back in houses and stands by street shooting cars. Normally they pull over at least two at a time by walking out onto the road and flagging cars off the street to write them a ticket.
Iowa Road near Harvard Road
Typical speed trap, cop shoots radios ahead to cars waiting to pull them over. They got at least 20 cars in the hour I was there.
Naismith Drive near bridges
Police Officer parks his vehicle out of sight on a side street. He then walks to the center of Naismith Dr. where he stands in the center on one of those bridges and shoots radar. After he catches a speeder he walks out into the road and flags them to the side. They normally pull over more then one at a time.
They Like to Park their cop cars back in the houses and walk out to the median and shoot radar
Maine Street near 9th Street
Cop stands in the middle of the street with the radar and flags you over. He is in between 9th and 6th street on Maine.
