Frankfort, Kentucky Speed Traps
I-64 between US60 and US127
I-64 crosses the Kentucky River in this area, and there is a steep downhill portion in both directions. Ky State Police like to hide behind rock outcroppings on the sides just as you’ve crossed the river at maximum speed. Sometimes they also hide further west in the huge grassy median where they can turn around and go either direction on I-64.
Wal-Mart Shopping Center
From 127 to Cardwell Lane, Leonardwood Rd is 25 mph. It’s hard to see the first speed limit sign when you’re turning from 127 Northbound, because it’s near the Hampton Inn (and there’s 2 turning lanes), but it’s there. The 2nd speed limit sign isn’t until AFTER you pass Wal-Mart.
I got busted for doing 43 mph by Frankfort City Police.
U.S. 60 between Versailles and Frankfort
They are there 24/7 and I don’t think I have ever driven that stretch of road without seeing a car stopped or about to be stopped.
Lyons Drive and Johnson Avenue; 4-way stop
25MPH speed zone. City Police will park on the street with other cars and catch you as you come down the hill of Lyons Drive toward the 4-way stop intersection. They will also sit at the top of Lyons Drive where it intersects with Strathmore.
