Williamstown, Kentucky Speed Traps
Main Street
Grant County P.D. likes to hide anywhere and everywhere along Main Street through Williamstown and they especially like out of town plates as those cars will be pulled over for anything and everything from too heavy of a tint on the windows to burned out taillights. As a born and raised Kentuckian, it pains me to note that we have law enforcement that personify the Roscoe and Barney Fife types from Dukes of Hazard and Andy Griffith Show, but Grant County P.D. definitely fits the role.
Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 150
This has been a speed trap for years. It’s located just south of Williamstown.
Interstate 75 near Exit 150 N.of KY/TN border
Downhill part of 2-lane, one-way North-bound side of I-75. Scout car parked in median at bottom of downhill, partially out of site, below road level. Unorthodox speed limit of 65 mph (almost universally 70mph on Interstates) easy to exceed on a downhill, especially if passing a slow-moving truck (as I was). Many cars travel at same speed, or faster than me. (Many had already passed me & truck(s).) I resumed slower speed after passing truck. Exact speed unknown, as I was concentrating on driving.
