Lafayette, Louisiana Speed Traps
Southcity Parkway toward ambassedor speed van
Speed limit drops to 30 and had speed van about 200 feet from the red light
Just east of the first exit after the bridge’s eastbound end
The speed trap is located just before the exit and within site of a 70 mph speed limit sign. I was riding in the passenger seat and my sales manager was driving in the right lane and moving at the same speed as the traffic flow. As soon as we noticed the police officer, the officer waived at us to pull off. The officer was very polite, and for his trouble and ours issued a ticket with the option to pay a no-contest no-points fine of $175.00. When you live in another and distant state you really can’t justify appearing in court and fighting the fine so guess what? The fine will be paid; this is legalized extortion at its finest. If this had happened to me in my own State of residence near to my home then I would most definitely be seeing the cop in justice court and I wouldn’t be polite.
I-10 East of Lafayette coming off the Atchafalaya Causeway
As you come off the Atchafalaya causeway heading west look out for state police waiting on the side of the road.
Just north of Lafayette aprox. 3 miles on I 49
Local police working I 49 from the city of Washington. No tolerance above 70 MPH
Cajundome Blvd at Eraste Landry
There is usually a speedvan on the Cajundome Blvd extension where the road narrows and drops 10 mph.
