Natchitoches, Louisiana Speed Traps
Interstate 49 – Evangeline Parish
Evangeline parish sheriff’s deputies sit on either side of the interstate in the very short stretch of interstate that runs through Evangeline parish. They target luxury vehicles and four wheel drive trucks. A deputy very obviously targeted my vehicle and admitted this to me! I travel that way often and they’ve been at it for at least a year. They have the aforementioned vehicles pulled over on both sides routinely.
I-49 Exit 33
Deputies sit on the north and south entrance ramps and can”t be seen from the travel lane. Sometimes it on car but at times there is one on both north ramp and south ramp. They can be found there most days and nights of the week. They will almost demand to search your vehicle.
Interstate 49 near Exit Number 138
Both sides of I-49 just south of the Natchitoches exit 138 sits state troopers on either side watching day and night. They are there a couple times a week.
I-49 Mile marker 133
Speed limit drops from 70 to 60 with little warning and for no obious reason. Of course there is a LA trrope ther waitng for the unwary. I was stopped for going 73 in a 60. The mail in fine is $192.00 for going 13 MPH above the limit.
I-49
The city of Natchitoches has extended its city limits two miles north and south of the Natchitoches exit on I-49. The only reason for doing this is so they can take advantage of out of town speeders. They have gone as far as black topping a turn around about 1.5 miles south of the exit in the median for the cops to hide in the pine tress. When approaching the exit from the south make sure you are not speeding when you see a stand of pine tress in the median. The exit itself is seperated from the town by 2 miles so that puts city cops writing tickets a long ways away from where they should be.
