Pioneer, Louisiana Speed Traps
Village of Pioneer
Small unincorporated town called The Village of Pioneer. Only one Cruiser. Officer hides behind trucks parked at the co-op and catches motorist where the speed limit drops from 55 to 45. Special exemption for truck drivers. If commercial driver pays fine before court date it is not reported as a moving violation. Possibly because commercial drivers are more likely to fight in court?
Entering the block long village from the north. Drops to 45.
Claimed I was clocked by the “Chief” as I entered the village at 57 in a 45. I had already slowed to 45 and as I exited out the south side, where the limit was now 55, a sitting “patrol car” pulled out and pulled me over for 57 in a 45. When I said I wasn’t, he said I was clocked by the chief coming into town and he “radioed me” to pull you over. I am not buying it. Population is 200. Poor town. All very fishy for a $175 “speeding” ticket.
Village of Pioneer
Hwy 17 at old cotton gin. Police offer has black Tahoe, and works part time. You will be told that you can call the court clerk (who is also part time) and ask for it to be made a non moving violation and they will allow it. The officer freely admitted that they just wanted the money.
