Schriver, Louisiana Speed Traps
State Highway 24
State Police set up stationary traps on both north and south bound lanes of Hwy 24 between Houma and Thibodaux. The road is a 4 lane divided highway with an artificially low speed limit of 40 mph. They just park along the road and set up shop. Because the speed limit is set so low for a 4 lane highway, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. I was nailed for doing 59 in a 40. I was doing 35 mph in the right lane when kids in a truck were passing me at a high rate of speed in the left lane.
The trooper clocked someone doing 59 mph (the kids) and pulled me over because it was easy. That cop cost me $225.00, then the La Troopers Association sent a form letter asking for a donation!
