Woodworth, Louisiana Speed Traps
Woodworth town limit boundary line
Woodworth has stretched its town boundaries numerous times over the last several years. In doing so it has now incorporated much of the 65 mph four lane LA state highway and reduced the speed to 55mph in the middle of nowhere just because it is there town limits. This is where they patrol or sit and wait is at the edge of the town limits. This is one of the most well known and talked about speed traps in LA.
State Highway 165 near castor plunge Road
As you are coming to the town on Highway 165, the speed limit goes from 65mph to 50mph within 50 feet from the 65mph posted speed limit sign. This is only headed east from Kinder, headed south from Oakdale into Woodworth.
Bayou Clear Road near Emma Black Road
This is a blacktop road where the speed limit is 25 mph. Anywhere else this road would be a 45 mph. One tactic is to run up on you very fast at night and drive about 3′ off your bumper. I know of one lady this has happened to three times. The first two times it greatly scared her. She didn’t know who was driving so close to her car. I know of two other people this has happened to – so five times in all I know about. If you try to speed up and get some distance from the police, then you get a ticket for driving over 25 mph.
US Highway Hwy 165 S near US Highway 9 miles south of Alexandria
this guy sits anywhere along or in the middle of the highway and will stop you for traveling 1 mile over posted limit of 45 mph. have heard about him stopping just for the sake of stopping. LA sent investigators in and he stopped them. that shut it down a little bit but he is still at his tricks.
Robinson Bridge Road near Interstate 49
Almost right between US 165 and I-49, they sit on the south side of Robinson Bridge Road (exit 73 off I-49). In this area the town and bridge is 25 and under construction. Posted speed limit is 45 between I-49 and the bridge. It is a brand new, beautiful paved road. It has been suggested to me (after the fact)to go *under* the posted speed limit, or avoid Woodworth, just to be on the safe side. They can nickle and dime you to death. Mine personally: speeding, careless by excessive speed, no LA tags (just bought/registered the car). It’s your word against theirs really, I am not a speeder, haven’t gotten a ticket in 10+ years, but I hear this town is notorious. If you do get a ticket, get a lawyer to help. Some won’t touch Woodworth, some can at least get the offense not to go on your record.
