Bowie, Maryland Speed Traps
At Bowie High School on Rt 450
This is a two lane road in both directions. There is a camera in a silver box stacked on another silver box with strobe light unit and a 3rd box – probably to record. The camera is aimed at the right lane next to the curb. If a car speeds by you in the left lane, but you are in the right lane driving at the posted speed of 30 mph, you in the right lane receive the ticket. Two individuals, a person at the bank and one at the optometrist, confirmed the same experience with a 30 minute time period today, Feb 2, 2011.
Belair Drive at the Bowie High Annex
Speed Cameras in both directions. They look sort of like metal file cabinets, or electric utility boxes. Brand new, as of July, 2010. Speed Limit is 25. Don’t know if they’ll take your pic for 26mph, but I imagine anything over 40mph, and most likely over 35mph will merit a photo, so smile as you pass.
