Chestertown, Maryland Speed Traps
Route 20 near Fairlee at the Telephone Radio Tower
The County Sheriffs usually park in the parking lot of the telephone tower (you can see it for miles). They usually are facing west taking speeders from Rock Hall and it usually is late at night when they can catch the drunks as well. The speed limit on Rt. 20 is 50 MPH, but it is a fairly flat, straight, country road, so you can easily creep up to 70 MPH without realizing it (I have, but have not gotten a ticket yet). This isn’t the only place they camp out at night on Rt. 20 between Rock Hall and Chestertown, but this is the most frequent location. Do the speed limit at night in this area.
