Sykesville, Maryland Speed Traps
State Highway 32 near North of the Patapsco River Bridge and also at Cooper Drive
Sykesville Police run speed traps at these two locations to ticket the traffic that bypasses downtown. Downtown speedtraps are too numerous to mention—just avoid it, it’s their playground. Deny them the opportunity. I live downtown and see them regularly on my way home at night; they park rather dangerously on the shoulders of Route 32 and you will not see them until they’ve got you. Once it’s dark, they’re out …a trip to traffic court in Westminster demonstrates the unreal ratio of Sykesville tickets to those issued by other jurisdictions in Carroll County.
Route 32/Sykesville jurisdiction
Big police force for a small town, using radar as well as pacing…I live in downtown Sykesville and daily see them screaming down the hill on Sandosky Road in pursuit of drivers doing 26 in a 25 mph zone (one day they will kill a pedestrian). Rabid enforcement on Route 32 as it passes through east side of town…it’s hunting season 365 days a year…deny them their revenue!
White Rock Road near intersection of Streaker
White Rock Road can be taken at 55 mph without any problem. However, the speed limit is 40 until after a particular rise when it changes to 30. There is a small church on the right at the top of this hill. State Police sit in its parking lot, as well as 200 feet farther down on Streaker Road (also on the right). Be careful when entering this area–I know a great deal of people who have been caught here.
