Decatur, Michigan Speed Traps

Decatur Police will often sit in the now-abandoned Bolt gas station on the east side of the road, or on the small side street to the right as you curve to the right entering the village. Speed limit drops quickly from 55 when entering from the north on M-51; lots of travelers coming off I-94 (especially Illinois drivers) will not slow down enough and are ticketed.

A couple of businesses on the west side of the road are part of the village; Decatur Police will often sit in the parking lots anywhere between approximately one mile south of the village all the way north to the school bus yard, usually at the outer edge of the village limits. The speed limit drops quickly to 25 and it is very easy to get caught unaware, especially at night.
