Grand Rapids, Michigan Speed Traps
Michigan St between College and Diamond
Current construction on I-96 has traffic detoured to Michigan. Multiple police cars have been locating in driveways and parking lots along Michigan. Primary offenders have been those traveling down the hill heading east. It’s a 25mph zone, but most travel at least 35mph. Just don’t go over.
Seward Ave. NW between Bridge St. & Leonard
This is a big, wide 4-lane corridor with a 25 mph speed limit. It’s very easy to unintentionally speed, and GRPD is hiding, often in the American Seating headquarters parking lot on the west side of the street between 7th and 11th Streets.
Walker Ave. NW between Leonard & Richmond
GRPD frequently sits on side streets along this curvy stretch and behind pine trees in CRC parking lot on east side of Walker at Richmond using radar on North/Northwest bound traffic. Speed limit is 25 mph. Don’t even think about 26 mph.
Franklin Street near Plymouth Road
Officers often sit on Franklin Street, facing west. Time cars heading east on Franklin.
On Leonard and Perkins
A four lane road with a 35 mph speed limit and a hill going down. A cop is often sitting at the Perkins intersection waiting for someone to speed down the hill on Leonard.
