Livonia, Michigan Speed Traps

At 3:30 and five minutes afterward, the shift change for the Michigan State Police comes down the 7 Mi. South bound ramp onto I 275 ( and since everyone speeds on I 275) he instantly picks a speeder and has his first ticket of the day, EVERY day! Used to work in a Laurel Park office building and EVERY day for recreation we looked out our window to see who they pulled over between Six and Seven Mi. Road. So if you are driving a beater or a truck with ladders on it, you are going to get picked on! Remember he has his choice of vehicles when he comes down the ramp. I once was stopped North bound on I 275 by the State Police and told him of our recreational activity. He was surprised! The next day, a Cadillac was pulled over. They knew we were watching! This is an opportunistic speed trap, so I hope it qualifies for your posting, as I think it’s funny!

6 lanes at 40 mph. They are generally waiting for southbound drivers just south of the railroad underpass in the Ford plant driveway. They also may set up just north of Pymouth Road for northbound drivers just behind the strip mall or McDonalds. Do 40 mph through here! It’s tough to do after getting off I-96…

Either city marked or even sometimes unmarked car sit on the side street and get speeders as they come up from going over the Rouge River bridge. Very easy to speed through there.

There is a Ford plant on the southbound side of Middlebelt road where a cop loves to sit just inside the driveway and get speeders with the radar. This spot is halfway between I96 and Plymouth road, the speed limit is 40 mph so stay right at it or he’ll get you. They also sometimes use a maroon impala, so it can be mistaken for just a regular person waiting to pull out of the parking lot, or a Ford security guard which is what I thought he was at first.

Dodge Charger marked car (Livonia PD), sits in the Penske Logistics loading area on the east side of Stark – North of Plymouth Rd, just south of the railroad tracks along Industrial Drive. I see it there at least three days a week, anywhere from 4:50pm to 5:30pm so far.
