Monroe, Michigan Speed Traps
Raisinville Road near Stewart Road
Raisinville Rd. (especially by Raisinville Elementary School) is always a favorite target for Monroe Country Sheriffs. Raisinville Rd’s speed limit is 45mph but when approaching near the school, during the school year, it goes down to 25mph, which is understandable. However, they’re watching all of Raisinville Rd. and not just the school zone. Rumor has it that they try to catch at least 3 or 4 drivers a day.
Front Street, between I-75 and Monroe Power Plant
Front Street speed was 45, now is 35 m.p.h, before power plant it drops to 25 m.p.h. They like to stop you if you have an Ohio plate. Watch for other drivers flashing headlights to warn you. They sit by water treatment plant, and Port of Monroe.
M-24 north and south of the River Raisin
The speed limit on Telegraph Road (M-24) changes from 45mph to 35mph, at the northside base of the bridge crossing the River Raisin. Thus speed north of the river is set at 45mph, while speed south of and upon the bridge is set to 35mph. Northbound traffic exceeding 35mph will be easily identified, as their inability to see the police vehicle will not allow them time to lower speed. Northbound traffic that has not lowered speed from 45mph while going over the bridge, will be met with a police officer sitting in a small driveway (which leads nowhere, thus was probably desiged for police use) just beyond the bridge’s threshold.
