Selfridge, Michigan Speed Traps

Make VERY sure that you DO follow the speed limits EXACTLY while on base. The SF’s will NOT cut you any slack. Make sure that you come to a COMPLETE STOP at ALL stop signs. A good rule of thumb is to stop, count to five, and then proceed. Talking on cell phones (except hands-free) is also prohibited on base. Remember, this is a military installation…normal "civvy" rules of thumb often don’t apply!

If you work at Selfridge Air Base, watch out. There are 2, yes, 2 police organizations on Selfridge. The worst is the Air Force cops. They will ticket with no remorse. The tickets are federal ones, so it is more of a fine for you to pay. Very seldom do I hear of them cutting warnings. Just deal with the ridiculous speed limits. Its better than forking over $100!

The Air Force Security Police sit in an unmarked Charger in the parking lot of the Gas station on base. they sit there all day long and pull people over when the speed limit drops to 25 mph.
