Sterling Heights, Michigan Speed Traps
16 mile Road near Mound Road
Usually unmarked police car sits behind large evergreen tree on St. Basil property drive way South side of 16 Mile Road. Sometimes during the day but mainly after rush hour at night.
Hall Road near Delco Boulevard
Traveling Eastbound on Hall Rd./M59 between Delco Blvd. and Schoenherr Rd. The right side of Hall road is cluttered with a lot of plaza entrances. Sterling Heights Police will sit with their lights off in one of the entrances (usually the tall business plaza that flashes Dow Jones Stock Market Points, after Cranks Pub). My radar detector alerted me during the encounters I have had with this speed trap. This trap is popular between the hours of 8-12pm when rush hour traffic has subsided.
sixteen mile Road near Van Dyke Road
The black or blue Crown Vic will be parked sideways on the side of the road pointing its radar or laser to on coming trafic. This will be a 1/2 a mile from the 16 and Van Dyke intersection going west bound. If your speeding you will get polled over a mile down the road over the bridge right after Van Dyke by a marked cop. Watch out because 16 mile is full of cops anywhere.
M59 between Mound Rd. overpass and Dequindre
The Police have many options in this stretch.
-To the right. You may occasionally see a patrol car parked to the right, next to the concrete wall which feeds the on-ramp to M-59 (west bound).
-To the leFort You will notice that their is a wide left shoulder, the police usually sit there clocking M-59 westbound traffic.
-To the left and over the hill. Approaching the crest of the hill you will notice a median turnaround (for authorize vechiles only). The police will face their patrol cars towards the westbound traffic that is coming over the hill. This leaves little time to react.
-To Left and over the hill. When heading M-59 eastbound, you will approach a hill. At this piont the freeway goes from 2 to 3 lanes. As the shoulder starts on the leftside look to your left along side the concrete barriar for a patrol car of some sort.
15 Mile Road Just East of Van Dyke
Squad cars, usually an unmarked black Crown Vic, like to sit either at the Amoco station or at the liquor store next door to catch speeders coming through the red light. Also, I see them almost on a daily basis ready to write that ticket for turning right on red from Van Dyke to 15 Mile.
