Van Buren, Michigan Speed Traps
Michigan Ave East bound & Denton rd
Unmarked black and burgundy Dodge chargers are pulling cars on radar just inside the Canton border.
Belleville Rd. at Quirk Rd.
Police sit behind the Van Buren Township Flower circle. The speed limit changes from 35 to 30.
U.S. 12 and Ecorse
If you’re heading east on Michigan Ave from I94, right before U.S. splits into Ecorse, there is a hidden drive to your left where Washtenaw county cops sit. The same holds true heading west on Michigan ave but to a lesser degree. The speed limit there is only 55. Up a little further, after you go under the railroad tracks, Van Buren Twp. police like to bust people people right before they get into Canton. Twice last year I’ve seen a line of police cars pulling people over one right after another, so beware!
Rawsonville Road near Grove Road
As you go south on Rawsonville, right after Grove Rd. on your right, a cop waits on the Right Hand side for traffic. The posted speed is 40mph on Rawsonville North of Grove. However; south of Grove, it turns 50mph. But the catch is the downhill drive, which quickens your speed. Picking up someone’s mother to go to the hospital, an inconsiderate cop gave me a ticket there. The thing is he said I was 53mph in 40 zone. The 50mph was right in front of us when we pulled over though!
Rawsonville Road near Snow Road
Going North on Rawsonville Rd. police park in the driveway of a home just before the intersection. The house and driveway set lower than the road and you don’t see him until you are right on him. Speed limit drops from 50 mph to 40 mph as soon as you hit the Snow Rd. intersection. The police stop everyone they can. There are usually 2 police cars. The other one sits at the empty lot on the west side corner of the intersection.
