Ava, Missouri Speed Traps
All of Highway 5 from Mansfield to Gainesville.
Cops sit in well hidden driveways, turnouts all along Hwy 5 from Mansfield to Gainesville. It isn’t unusual to see 4 or 5 stops from Mansfield to Squires (about 28 miles). Especially bad going through Ava. Speed limit drops suddenly to 45 from 60.
HWY 5 from Ava stoplight approx 5 miles south
Troopers sit hidden in several locations. Problem is the speed drops from 60 mph suddenly to 45, sometimes lower, but it’s on HWY 5 with no foot traffic so is easy to miss. This is the main detour around Ava going south. After the stoplight at Casey’s, stay careful for several miles. They wait for that speed up after you’re out of the 45 mph traffic.

State Highway 14 West near State Highway 5 North
The Missouri State Highway Patrol sets up the radar trap on a flat stretch of Highway 14 West about 2.5 miles west of Ava. The patrol car lurks in a private driveway. The car is hidden by a tree if you’re east bound and by the curve of the road if you’re west bound.
