They will either sit at the end of a driveway, or next to a house south of the cemetary.
Also, they will watch the intersection for Stop sign violations.
Business 54 South Bypass near McDonald’s
Police sit backed up in road to park (2nd Street) or in gas station next to McDonald’s. Going South from downtown, speed limit is 30 mph, but only one sign saying so. Especially heavy coverage from McDonald’s down past Callaway Bank.
US Highway 54 near State Highway HH
City officers use a handheld remote radar gun and stand in the middle of the overpass of HH (have also seen them on Rte. F) and catch speeders on Highway 54. Another patrol car waits and catches the ones detected speeding.
Lee Street
Police sit back just a bit on Lee St.If you are leaving town you don’t see them until it is too late due to a large pine tree. On the way into town due to a private fence.
The Whole Town
Officers will sit in drive-ways and wait for speeders. They also sit in a truck or unmarked car and check your speed then if the driver is speeding they radio to a group of officers who flag the car down. You will not get a warning if you are pull over. Also the Police Department is planning on giving out upwards of 100,000 dollars in tickets by the end of the year.
