Independence, Missouri Speed Traps
East 24 Highway & Powell Road, 64056
I starting noticing the speed traps when East 24 Highway was under re-construction with the construction of the new Little Blue Parkway enterance. The whole time this work zone was in place, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and a unmarked Ford Crown Victoria Independence Cop liked to sit in the construction zone and catch speeders. today the unmarked cop car stopped 3 drivers in less than 90 minutes. speed limit west bound goes from 65 to 50 and that my friends is where they are waiting for you. WATCH OUT!
I-70 and Blue Parkway
Cops sit on the entrance ramp to I-70. By the time you pass under the overpass (most generally west bound), they’ve got you and they’re already 3/4 the way down the ramp ready to come onto I-70 to issue your ticket
42nd Terrace west of Noland Road, just south of I-70
42nd Terrace serves the hotels on the south side of I-70 west of Noland. One or two Independence police like to sit in the cul-de-sac at the west end of 42nd Terrace (by the self-storage business, west of the America’s Best Value Inn/Econo Lodge entrance) and harass motorists on 42nd Terrace and Washington Avenue. Speeding, failure to make a full stop at 42nd and Washington, etc. They usually park on the south side of the cul-de-sac, where they are impossible to see from Washington and hard to see from 42nd Street.
Independence Avenue Near Brookside
Just about every morning during rush hour, I see a patrol car in the Sinclair gas stationwith his radar aimed at 24 highway. Don’t rush to work in this areaThey get lots of people all the time!
Norfleet at 48th
The speed limit on Norfleet, which meanders from Kansas City to Independence and back again between 40 Highway & 59th Street makes for 3 different speed limits in this stretch. So watch out for the Independence police looking to ticket those in the 25 mph zones.
