Joplin, Missouri Speed Traps
East 20th Street Between Round About and Rex Avenue
The police like to sit in various places along 20th street. I live in the apartments and see someone get pulled over there daily. There is an empty lot they sit in right at the round about next to Casey’s. Further down the street, there is another parking lot they sit in at the traffic light. Just as you go over the small hill and see the light, there is usually an officer in the lot next to the right of the light, waiting for someone to not be paying attention to their speed. These are Duquesne police officers right at the Joplin city limits.
whole state,
state police are writing everything, no warnings.. I got wrote for a 200 dollar fine.. window tint was at max (per officer) .. and instead of warning.. officer wrote a 200 dollar ticket.. knowing it will cots me over $500 to fight it.. and win.. knowing it is cheaper to pay fine than to fight it..
St. Louis Ave. between Campbell and 20th
If you are traveling north on St. Louis Ave from 20th the speed limit drops from 35 to 30 and later to 25. The road is four lanes and slopes downhill. Police will park in the First Community Church parking lot. Joplin PD aren’t known for competence and they ticket frequently.
North St Louis Ave between Fountain Road and Highway 171
There is a church on east side of North St Louis Ave approximately halfway between Fountain Road & Highway 171. Joplin and Webb City police hide on south side of church next to building. Oh, and they will write for 5mph over speed limit.
32nd and duquesne rd the whole street
aways a policeman on this street…speed limit 35 looks like a country road which has a speed of 45 but is actually a street
