Perryville, Missouri Speed Traps
Detour (flooding) off of US-61 onto county M
US-61 is closed south of Ste. Genevieve due to flooding. Instead of using state 34 as the obvious proper detour to I-55, the town puts you on very small county M. County M has a 30-MPH section (even though rural), and that’s where they unsuspecting drivers not familiar with the road. The 30-MPH limit allows for very trumped-up citations for even relatively low speeds when anticipating this road to be 55 MPH.
State Highway 51 near Interstate 55
Going South on Highway 51 past Walmart, a cop usually patrols from Friendly Valley (parked in the gravel parking lot) to the old house that sits on the top of the hill (a big tree hides the police car) on the left, just past the entrance to Lak Kah Tan Da. Normally they are there in the early A.M. (rush) and the P.M. (rush).
