Smithville, Missouri Speed Traps

This is a great Saturday Trap….whereby they love to sell you a ticket. They try to sell you a ticket of a speed higher then real. Smithville is a drop off for rookies to learn and travel on. Selling Tickets is BIG BUSINESS and the courts believe them.

The speed limit is 45 until a mile or two south of town..then it changes to 60..but cops sit at bottom of hill where most people would accelerate to 60.
They get you between the 45 and 60 signs. Always there most days.

Smithville’s finest run radar daily and have sobriety check points monthly at this location. I know, because I live in Lake Meadows. U.S. Hwy. 169 is two lane but four lane at this location because of the turning lanes into the addition. This makes an ideal place to have check points. There is also a monument at the entrance of the addition that they can hide behind.

The police sit just over the hill south of Major Mall catching people on their way to work in the morning. Actually, don’t ever speed in Smithville. These vultures will get you.

Will not try to enforce other laws but will sit on the highway and write tickets. We have had several break-ins and they can not solve them. If you look in paper it is all traffic tickets or traffic related items. Customers come in and say they have already met Smithvilles finest. This happens several times a week.
