Missoula, Montana Speed Traps

Blue Mountain Rd and River Pines Rd.
These roads are just out of the city limits and have a posted limit of 35. But they are rural so people think they have the 50 mph speed limit. Sheriff Patrols use these roads for revenue gathering.
South 3rd Street West at Catlin
Eastbound on S. 3rd, the speed limit changes here from 35 to 25 with no warning sign, just 2 blocks after a posted 35. The sign is difficult to see due to its location, and is nearly impossible at night. Not only is it non-reflective, unlike every other speed limit sign I have seen in Missoula, but it is actually coated with something that makes it even darker and harder to see. Most drivers are focused on the upcoming traffic light at Russell Street and will NOT see it unless they already know its there. An officer will often sit out of sight on Catlin street and wait for someone to blow through that intersection without slowing down.
