Reserve St. South around C.S. Porter Middle School
Speed limit changes (during school hours) from 45 to 30 mph for about a three block stretch. Police park in streets and alleys on both sides of Reserve.
Bancroft Street – usually in the Playfair parking lot
The speed limit on Bancroft Street between South Avenue and Southwest Higgins is 25 MPH. This a main arterial from Sentinel High School and Southwest Higgins.
Missoula Police usually sit in the middle of southern entrance to Playfair Parking Lot waiting for anyone who is traveling Bancroft Street over 30.
I-90 south to Pattee Canyon and west to Hwy 93 S.
The police are always in this area. Be careful and obey the speed limit.
Johnson Avenue near Kent Avenue
There is almost always a cop sitting somewhere around the SHEC building. The "posted" (in one place, from one direction) speed limit is 25, traffic does 30.
Hillview Way near Clearview Way
This is what is known as the "Southhills Loop" speedtraps. This particular speed trap is in the Elk Meadows area by Hillview Way and Clearview Way. The road is winding through a mild canyon where there is a speed limit change. People coming up the hill go from 35 mph to 25 mph at Elk Meadows. Beware! People coming down the hill thru this canyon area find it hard to keep it at 25 mph. 23rd is a stones throw away and so is Gharrett. That’s why the name: Southhills Loop. They mostly patrol during morning rush hour or on bright sunny days after Missoula has had a long string of stormy weather.
