Douglas, Nevada Speed Traps
US Highway 395 near Genoa Road
Douglas County Sherriffs office purchased lots of instant-on Ka band radar guns in the summer of 2006. I first noticed the shift from K band earlier this summer, and confirmed it with a cop aquantence that I have. If your detector gets even a weak Ka band signal that is intermittent, you better slow her down promptly. Their instant-on will go off and on according to their impatient desires. DC Sherrif and NHP love to hang out on all under-rated speed sections, such as the 55 mph zone at the bottom of the hill on North end of the county.
US Highway 395 near Carson River, Cradlebough Bridge
In Summer of 2006, NHP painted markings on shoulder of highway for aerial enforcement. Markings are just North of Carson River and South of Sunridge. Beware of NHP Cessna 172 flying around. Approximately 80% of their missions are for traffic enforcement. Up till now it was all in Washoe Valley and on I-80. Now it’s in Douglas County as well.
East Valley Road near Johnson Lane
Recently paved East Valley Rd near Johnson Lane has become the Douglas County Sherriffs favorite spot to pray on good citizens. The speed limit on Freemont RD is rediculously low at 25mph (45mph is a safe speed). I’ve seen them early in the morning, late at night, all hours of day with their Ka band, sometimes instant-on. Be careful going down the hill, it’s 25mph, not 50mph.
