Gardnerville, Nevada Speed Traps
Hwy 208 in Smith Valley (between Gardnerville and Yerington)
Posted sign says speed limit 25 mph. I slowed down to just over that speed. Saw sheriff’s car pull out behind me and follow me for about 1/2 mile and pulled me over. Said I was going 51 mph (no way). I got out of my vehicle to get my license out of my wallet. Officer told me to get back in my vehicle and pulled his gun on me. He gave me a ticket for going 30 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Centerville and Mottsville lanes, Gardnerville Nevada
Centerville and Mottsville lanes, Gardnerville Nevada , both of which cross Highway 88 and Foothill road are posted at 45 MPH. The sign is right as you turn on to these roads and where you would be watching the road as you are turning and not watching the signs for your own safety. Both of these roads are wide open country roads (very pretty too) and safe speed is easily 60 MPH. The problem with these two roads is that they are no physical difference from the roads you turn off on them from. Highway 88 and Foothill road are both posted at 55 MPH. It is very easy to think you are going the posted limit. To add insult, a parallel road to these two, Genoa Lane, again no physical difference, is posted at 55 MPH. A lot of tickets are written on these two roads. Its is very easy to be tricked. Set your cruise control at 53 MPH and play pull over to keep yourself safe on these two roads.
