Jackpot, Nevada Speed Traps
On Hwy. 93, ten mile radius around town center.
Classic speed trap country, should be no surprise to people who drive in sparsely populated areas. Every small town wants people to slow down, and frankly they should. Not all the enforcement officers in these places are ticket-machine jerks, the way they are in Jackpot. In other places they may just twinkle their roof lights, or whoop their siren for a second to admonish you. Really.
You are screwed if you get a ticket in Jackpot; no traffic school or way to contest the ticket by mail. The rest of 93 in both directions is pretty much fine unless you do something completely idiotic like going over 100 (traffic is not *that* sparse, there are lots of blind hills, and there are semis) ; other drivers will call 911, and you may be pulled over down the road, even if you can’t be given a ticket.
State Highway 93 near Entering town
Speed limit drops very quickly from 75 MPH to 35 MPH entering this small town. They are waiting for you at the edge of town. The highway from Wells NV to Twin Fall ID passes through Jackpot.
US Highway 93 near US Highway 93
If you are Southbound on HWY 93 towards Wells, NV and pass through Jackpot, NV be very cautious coming down the semi steep grade of HWY 93 as the Idaho-Nevada stateline is about half way down the hill and the posted speed changes abruptly from 65 mile per hour to 45mph. And coming into Jackpot drops down to 35 mph. Troopers and County like to hide just around the curve. Also watch the rest stop just south of Jackpot, a real blindspot for them to hide.
