E Reno Ave & Haven St

Las Vegas, NevadaNov 20, 20080 Comments

The speed limit drops from 35 to 25 at this location. On Friday and Saturday nights 2 Metro motorcycle cops do parallels between Koval and Giles. There’s a lot of cover and they are able to conceal themselves easily. I accelerated to make it through the yellow light at Giles, which I did legally. Motorcycle pulled me over at Mandalay Bay and Vegas Blvd. and cited me for speeding and running a red light the latter being a false charge. The cops are serious and humorless. I’m a member of the the Nevada FOOP and the cop still pushed the infraction beyond where he should have. I remained in the area and noticed them pull over about 5 different cars in the space of 15 minutes.

Interstate 15 near State Highway 146

They are setting on the side of the interstate. As they finish writing one citation, they point at the next vehicle passing by to pull over. They drive up and ask if you know how fast you are going. Tell them you don’t know and they tell you that you were going 80 and write you a citation for it. The posted is 55. There was a sign that said so. We just didn’t see it. Same as the officer didn’t see that we were running a gps log that cached our trip thru the fine state of Nevada. Anyone know if that is admissable in court?

Torrey Pines Drive near Del Rey Avenue

Las Vegas, NevadaJul 12, 20080 Comments

There is a College of Southern Nevada Police Officer who parks on Del Rey directly in front of KNPR radio station every day school is in session at Bonanza High School, even summer school sessions. Why he is not patrolling the campus to protect the students is a good question, he likes to harass and yell at the parents and students from the High School.

Koval Lane near Winnick or Albert Avenues

Las Vegas, NevadaJun 24, 20080 Comments

One cop faces west on the NW corner of this intersection to snare cab drivers heading east, this apparently must be a "fast way out" of casinos for the taxicabs, two of which I saw nailed within 30 minutes. The other cop is apparently further west somewhere. It’s this cop that nails and writes them up just prior to Koval, so motorists on that street can see the light show. The posted speed – 25 mph – is way too low, there was zero other traffic on this street that I saw in 3x passing it within 30 minutes, and this is obviously a revenue-raising operation. After one cabbie was nailed, I observed the same cop down Koval, just south of Flamingo, with another paying customer, apparently resetting his radar to get a southbound Koval Lane customer before resuming their emphasis on the Winnick (probably) or Albert Avenue cut-through.
