Barnegat, New Jersey Speed Traps

After turning off of Barnegat Boulevard, and heading toward the timbers section, there comes a hill that is marked 25MPH – this is something to watch for, since letting the car coast, you could easily achieve 35-40. Police will ticket for doing 31 in a 25… since this has happened to me before.

Right on Gunning River Road, there are 3 speed traps, all in a row. This will take you from the Route 9 side. First, a little clearing on the left, since it is easy to have a cop tuck in behind the bushes. Second, will be a street again to the left, and this will provide another cover for them to hide. Last, is another little outcropping of trees on the right, and this is where there are cars for sale, fooling some into believing that a cop is trapping there.

They give winter rentacops badges and guns and tell them to write tickets. I’m a lifeguard in Barnegat Light and I don’t drive after dark or do anything over 30 mph.
