Cookstown, New Jersey Speed Traps
State Highway Cookstown – Browns Mills Rd near State Route Cookstown – Wrightstown Rd
Cookstown is located north of Range Road which travels through Fort Dix. The speed limit on Range Road and just prior to entering the village of Cookstown is 45mph. The speed limits drops in Cookstown to 30 mph. The speed limit is rigidly enforced in the village mainly during the morning and evening rush hours but also at other times during the day.
Rt 667 (Main Street)
Roads in and around the town of Cookstown are rural and are typically 45-50 MPH. Within the boundary of Cookstown (Rt 667) proper, the posted speed limit is 30 MPH. You REALLY have to brake hard in order to get within these posted speed limits. This makes it very enticing for the local police to set up speed traps. I’ve seen cars pulled over everyday (including myself) and at all times of the day. My guess is that ticketing revenue is funding an additional cop or two annually. what an investment strategy!
