Englishtown, New Jersey Speed Traps
Harrison Ave
They put out a marked patrol vehicle with a blow-up officer in it, and then they switched it up and put a real officer in it. They got some tricks up their sleeves. They put up stops signs over night, I been traveling this road for 20 years and then one morning the stop signs appeared. Sounds like entrapment, but the officer told me A stop sign is a stop sign and gave me a ticket. I did deserved it but was sneaky putting them up in the middle of the night. You just got to pay attention when driving in this town. My friend is a resident and said if you live there they will not ticket you.
The whole town is a speed trap & about to get worse!!!
Not only is the town just a square mile, and overpopulated with ticket crazy police, but now they’re hiring 2 new officers for the weekends just to write tickets to increase the towns revenue. That’s right 2 more just to write tickets to people going to Englishtown Auction, Raceway Park, or just passing through. Be careful!
Main Street
The trap runs the entire length of Englishtown’s main street. Note this: the Police will observe your license plate and if a frame is around it and covering Any of the verbage, that is their excuse to run your plate and pull you over. NJ law says the all information on the plate must be visable. So, if they don’t nail you on the 25 mile speed limit, the will check you out to see what they can cite you for.
Lasatta Avenue near Water Street
Englishtown is known for Raceway Park and the Englishtown Auction; both bring people from all over the east coast. The speed limit basically throughout the town is 25. There are two patrol cars covering 1 square mile and radar traps are their specialty. Slow down!
