Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey Speed Traps
Blauvelt Avenue
Make sure to note the speed limit signs on Blauvelt Avenue and proceed carefully going up the hill toward Franklin Turnpike. Motorcycle officers hide their motorcycles and jump out of the bushes on foot with radar gun in hand.
Hollywood Avenue
The Hollywood Avenue overpass crossing RT 17 is a favorite of the Ho-Ho-Kus police. The east side of the overpass catches cars exiting Rt 17. The west side of the overpass catches people exceeding the 25 mph speed limit coming over the crest of the overpass.
Elmwood Ave. & Warren Ave.
Not just a speed trap, but officers will lurk on Warren and watch you come down Elmwood and stop at the stop sign and then give you a ticket for failing to stop/yield EVEN IF YOU DO STOP. This happens especially on days when there is nobody else around and nobody to witness that you actually did stop. Beware — all is not right in this town. They give you a ticket even if you didn’t do anything wrong because it’s your word against theirs.
Racetrack Road
Going east on race track road , left side, just before rte 17 .Speed is 25 mph.
Racetrack Road west of Rt 17
Police sit at the bottom of the long approach to Rt 17 southbound. You will never talk your way out of a ticket here. don’t even try.
