Hopewell, New Jersey Speed Traps
State Route 518 near Rocky Hill Road
Catches drivers who do not slow down adequately approaching the town from the east on Rt 518 (Rocky Hill Rd.)
State Route 518 near Lambertville Hopewell Turnpike
The speed limit is 45 mph. A cruiser is places at the bottom of a long, high hill. Cars traveling east, out of Hopewell on Rt. 518 (Lambertville Hopewell Tpk) about 1/2 mile west of Rt. 31 are the target.
West Broad Street near Eastbound Side of West Broad St.
The trap is located about one mile east of Rt 31 on W. Broad St. It is near the Hopewell Valley Golf Club and catches drivers going east into the town.
Diverty Road, btwn. Route 31 and Reed Road
Watch out on this residential street. Lots of people use this street to avoid the Pennington Circle, and the cops are very active in ticketing drivers who go more than 30 mph (the speed limit is 25). Believe me, you do not want to get a ticket in Hopewell. The whole process of challenging the ticket or getting a point reduction is long and a pain.
State Route 31 between I-95 and County Road 518
Speed limits have been lowered to 45 m.p.h. on most of N.J. 31 in Hopewell Township. Some sections are 40 m.p.h. and one stretch near traffic light with Delaware Avenue in pennington Borough is 35 m.p.h. This is a heavy semi trailer truck route for truckers going to/from I-95 trying to avoid tolls on the Turnpike. Locals have screamed for heavy and regular enforcement. The route is not part of CMV national network and 102" trucks are banned. Expect enforcement especially after dark and truckers beware: Engine braking is against the local ordinance. No excuses tolerated.
