Lyndhurst, New Jersey Speed Traps
Kingsland Avenue near Ridge Road
There is an undercover police vehicle, black, that sits on Kingsland Avenue, between Ridge and River Road. He’ll nail you with a speeding ticket if you are doing 10 miles over. This is a main road, and the speed limit is 25mph.
Rutherford Avenue near State Route 3 ramp
A marked Rutherford cop often sits on the east-bound side of Rutherford Ave in Lyndhurst between Park Ave and the Rt 3 E ramp in the mornings. The posted speed is 25, but people often come in fast off of Rt 3. It is a residential area on one side (Lyndhurst) and highway on the other (Rutherford). If it was a Lyndhurst cop, I’d say he might be protecting the residents, but it’s always a Rutherford cop, so it’s just revenue-driven. Also, the limit should be 35-45 given the site.
Valley Brook Avenue, east of Orient Way
Valley Brook Ave is a narrow street that turns into a wide long road leading into an industrial park. The speed limit is 25 (but you’d think it would be 40). To the naked eye it appears as a long flat stretch of road, but there is a 6ft dip in elevation (just enough to hide a police car) when you crest the grade & spot the cop, it’s too late, he’s gotcha!
