Rumson, New Jersey Speed Traps
Rumson Road
There are 2 speed traps on Rumson Road. One is by the Rumson Country Club (RCC). There is a bend in the road before you reach the RCC and you cannot see the cop car until you come around the bend and then it’s too late. The other trap is further down the road at the corner of Bingham Ave. & Rumson Rd. The cop sits on the side street and you cannot see him. Posted limits here are 35-40 but it’s essentially a flat, straight road and most drivers are doing 50mph.
Rumson Road near Bridge
Any given time of day, mostly in the summer, cops will sit right before the Sea Bright bridge on Rumson Road and will catch people coming from Sea Bright into Rumson. Sometimes they will hide on the street behind the park or in the church parking lot as well. Beware when heading towards/from Sea Bright.
Rumson Rd.
Rumson Rd. has many speed trap and is heavily patroled esp. at night from 11:30 till about 3 or 3:30. Anyone comming from SeaBright from Tradewinds or a bar should watch out because Rumson cops hide right after the Sea Bright bridge in a little turn around area on the left when you are going into Rumson on the bridge. Also they hide in a favorite little spot in between Kemp Ave/ Rumson Rd. and Sycamore Ave./Rumson Rd. In between these two side streets there is a 15 foot wide area mostly dirt with over hanging trees and branches that they love to hide in and turn their lights off. They use K band a lot but they have started to use X band radar. They are able to scan forewards and backwards so your going to be caught either way. After you go past Buena Vista Ave. and go through the chicane or S curve in Rumson Rd. do the speed limit because they will be waiting for you. Also all of Rumson Rd. is very heavily patrolled along with all of Rumson. These cops play with your mind when you are driving alone at night.
