Union City, New Jersey Speed Traps
Under the Kennedy Boulevard bridge
a police officer parks his car on the on ramp eastbound on 495 right underneath the kennedy boulevard bridge headed towards the Lincoln Tunnel. The officer hangs over the guardrail and uses a radar gun. Once they identify you they will pull you over and block traffic on 495 or will pull you over by the hoboken exit.
Kennedy Boulevard near 22nd Street
A mark car sits either on Kennedy Blvd North in front of the Pizza Place or on 22nd St. I got nailed 2 or 3 yrs ago, my sister got nail 2 months ago. I see all the time when I visit my Mom. Speed limit on the Blvd is 25.
North Wing Road near 14th Street
North Wing Road – an extension from 14th Street in Hoboken going into Union City has few houses in the southern section and is easy to speed. Cop sits on side of street waiting for cars to run the hill in either direction. Due to its remoteness, drivers may be prone to step on the gas, but that is why they sit and wait. Lights on either side of the street, along with numorous stop signs make it virtually impossible to outrun.
Manhattan Avenue near 14th Street Viaduct
The speed trap is on the Union City side of the 14th street viaduct. 1) Motorcycle police dismounted with a handheld radar gun facing North to catch motorists heading down the viaduct. 2) Officer in car facing South to catch motorists heading up to Union City. This is a curving 1/2 mile road and in either case you will be caught if you are speeding. As you round the curve there they are.
